First, check what kind of missing it is

When Google Business Profile reviews are not showing up, the cause is usually one of a few. Before you contact anyone, answer three questions, because they point to different causes.

  1. Did one customer's review never appear, or did reviews that were visible go missing?
  2. Is it one store or many?
  3. Did anything change recently: a profile merge, a suspension and reinstatement, a category change, or a campaign that asked many customers to review at once?

A single new review that has not appeared is most often still being checked. Previously visible reviews that vanish are more often policy removals. Many stores at once suggests a change on Google's side or in how reviews were collected.

The causes Google lists

Google's help page on missing or delayed reviews gives these causes.

  • Policy checks still pending. Reviews are checked against Google's policies, and Google says this can take a few days and delay a review's appearance. Fix: wait.
  • Profiles recently merged. When two profiles for the same place are merged, Google says it might take a few days for reviews from both to show on Search and Maps. Fix: wait.
  • Customers on older phones or software. Google notes that customers using older devices or versions may have trouble leaving reviews. Fix: ask them to update Google Maps.
  • Removed for policy violations. Google states that reviews removed for policy violations will not be restored. Fix: read the policy to understand what was removed and why.
  • Reviews temporarily disabled. Google may temporarily disable reviews for certain profiles or categories to protect business owners. Fix: none on your side; they return when Google lifts the restriction.
  • Removed after reinstatement. Reviews can be removed after a suspended profile is reinstated. Fix: contact Google Business Profile support.
  • School categories. For profiles primarily categorised as schools for students aged 6 to 18, Google removes and disables reviews and ratings. Fix: if the category is wrong for your business, correct it.

About missing or delayed reviews (Google Business Profile Help)

Why genuine reviews sometimes get filtered

Google describes a moderation system that checks every review when it is posted and keeps checking afterwards. It looks at the review content, the history of the account and the place itself, including unusual activity such as a burst of reviews. One pattern Google names is a place receiving an unusually high number of one-star or five-star reviews in a short period.

That explains a frustrating side effect. If a store runs a push that asks hundreds of customers to review in one weekend, the resulting spike can look like the pattern the systems are built to catch, and some genuine reviews may not appear. Asking every customer steadily, through receipts and messages, produces a natural flow instead.

What you can do

  • Wait a few days for new reviews before acting. Pending checks and merges resolve on their own.
  • Check your profile's status and recent changes in Business Profile.
  • If reviews vanished after a reinstatement, contact Google Business Profile support.
  • Review how you are collecting reviews. Incentives, selective asking or bursts from a single event put reviews at risk of removal and the profile at risk of restrictions.
  • Keep your own record of the reviews you see each month for each store, so you can tell when and where something changed.
What not to do

Do not ask customers to post the same review again and again, and do not post reviews on their behalf. Both can look like fake engagement.

Reviews that disappear

When reviews that were visible go missing, and how to tell why.

Google reviews disappearing what s happening

Spotting the problem across many stores

In a large network nobody notices one store's missing reviews by looking at profiles. Track published reviews per store per month. A store whose count suddenly drops while its neighbours hold steady is the one to look at, and a drop across all stores in the same week usually points to a change in how reviews were collected, or on Google's side.

A checklist for store managers

When a store manager reports that reviews are not showing, these questions resolve most cases without escalation.

  1. When was the review posted? If it was in the last few days, wait; Google's policy checks can take that long.
  2. Is the review public? Ask the customer to view the profile while signed out, or check it yourself from a signed-out browser.
  3. Does the review link on the receipt or message open this store's review form? A link pointing at another store sends reviews there.
  4. Is the customer's Google Maps app up to date? Google points to older apps and devices as a cause of failed posts.
  5. Was the review requested with any offer, discount or contest? If so, stop, and expect such reviews to be removed.
  6. Did the store run a one-day push for reviews? A burst of reviews is a pattern Google's systems check.
  7. Has anything changed on the profile: a merge, a new category, a suspension? Check the profile and email before escalating.

Common questions

How long does a new review take to appear?

Google says that if no policy violation is detected, a review can be posted within seconds, but policy checks can delay some reviews by a few days.

A customer says they posted, but I cannot see it. What now?

Check the profile from a signed-out browser after a few days. If it still is not there, the likeliest causes are a policy check, a removal, or a review posted to a different profile.

Will Google tell me why a review was removed?

Generally not for individual reviews. Google's policy page describes the categories it removes, which is the best guide to the cause.

Is there a form for missing reviews?

Google's help centre lists the causes and suggests contacting support in specific cases, such as reviews removed after a profile was reinstated.

Doing this with Falcon

Falcon collects the public Google Maps reviews for every store and shows review volume per store and month next to sentiment and themes. That makes an unusual drop at one location visible quickly, and the reviews that are published remain classified and searchable.
