What makes jewellery reviews different
Jewellery store reviews are written about high-value, often emotional purchases: weddings, anniversaries, a child's first gold. Customers write at length about how they were treated, whether they trusted the price and purity, and what happened when they came back for an exchange or repair. Trust is the theme underneath almost everything.
What customers write about
- Staff guidance: patience, knowledge, pressure to buy, attention at busy times.
- Design and range: collections, availability of sizes, customisation.
- Pricing transparency: gold rate, making charges, wastage, discounts.
- Purity and certification: hallmarking, certificates, testing.
- Exchanges, buybacks and returns: policies and how they are explained.
- After-sales: repairs, resizing, polishing, delivery dates.
- Store experience: waiting, comfort, security, billing time.
Purity and HUID
In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards prohibited the sale of hallmarked gold jewellery without a six-digit alphanumeric HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) after 31 March 2023, and customers can check an item's HUID with the "Verify HUID" option in the BIS CARE app. Reviews that question purity are serious: answer them with facts about hallmarking and offer a route to verify, never defensively.

- Exchange or buyback terms that surprise the customer when they return.
- Making or wastage charges not explained before billing.
- Alteration or repair dates missed, especially before weddings.
- Feeling rushed or ignored during a big purchase.
Most of these are communication problems at the moment of purchase. Fixes are usually clearer explanations, written terms on the invoice and realistic promised dates.
Tracking across stores
- Classify every review into these themes with sentiment per mention.
- Compare stores within peer groups: flagship, mall, high street, city tier.
- Watch seasonal peaks: festive and wedding seasons change both volume and complaints.
- Read the reviews behind every outlier before acting.

Replying to jewellery reviews
- Reply as a named manager.
- For pricing complaints, explain the components calmly and invite a conversation; never quote the customer's bill in public.
- For purity questions, point to hallmarking and offer verification.
- For exchange disputes, acknowledge the frustration, own the communication failure and move it offline.

How to respond to negative google reviews with examplesCommon questions
Why do jewellery reviews mention staff so often?
Buying jewellery is guided selling. Customers remember who helped them choose, and whether they felt pressured.
How do festive seasons affect reviews?
Volume rises and waiting and billing complaints often rise with it. Compare festive periods year on year.
Should we respond to reviews about competitor prices?
Focus on your own transparency: what goes into your price, and how customers can compare fairly.
What do Indian jewellery reviews often mention that global ones don't?
Gold rate, making charges, hallmarking and exchange of old gold come up often.
An example
A jewellery chain sees exchange complaints rise at its stores in one city. The reviews describe customers told at the counter that exchange value would be calculated differently from what they understood at purchase. Comparison with other cities shows the complaint is local. The cause is a new pricing sheet used only in that city's stores, explained inconsistently. The chain prints the exchange terms on the invoice and trains staff to walk customers through them at billing; exchange complaints in that city fall to the level of others within two months.
Preparing for peaks
- Before festive and wedding seasons, review last year's peak reviews by store.
- Add billing and floor staff where waiting complaints were highest.
- Set realistic delivery dates for custom orders, and tell customers.
- Brief staff on explaining charges clearly when stores are busy.
Doing this with Falcon
Falcon classifies every Google Maps review of every store into a taxonomy built from your own reviews, with the sentiment of each mention. Negative share by topic, store and month shows which issues are rising where, small samples are flagged, and every number opens the reviews behind it.
